Pescadero is a small town on the California Coast that grew from an adobe on a Mexican rancho in the late 1840s into a fashionable country resort enjoyed well into the 1920s; today it is still a favorite weekend getaway for city-dwellers from all over the San Francisco Bay Area as well as visitors from abroad. Based on recorded conversations with descendants of the town's American pioneer families and photographs found in their family albums, Portraits of Pescadero tells how this quiet rural community got started, who started it, and why it is still a very special place.
